The second JB Sharp regatta for 2025 held on Iron Cove was hosted by Drummoyne RC. Weather conditions were good for rowing but the temperature was very low at the start of the day. Once the sun came out, it turned into a stunning day.
Our WI4x (Adriana, Catherine, Yvonne, Mel) performed very well against tough competition to come in second with a margin of only 4 seconds. The WN4x (Denny, Julia, Sharon, Seven) were the next to race. They and the other novice crews had an exciting row on what is not an easy course to navigate. Lots of fun! The WO8+ (Adriana, Petra, Catherine, Lisa, Julia, Sue, Seven, Mel - cox Judith) did very well to win against an established and experienced Leichhardt crew. Coach Sherry was very pleased! After the 8+, Adriana and Mel had to make a very quick changeover to compete in the WO2x, their third race of the day. They also performed well, coming in 3rd in their division.
It was a very enjoyable day, capped off by a leisurely brunch at Gus's cafe after boat unloaidng. Many thanks to Mike for transporting boats and helping crews. Thanks also to Charles for coming along to provide advice and encouragement to crews.
