JB Sharp Glebe and JB Sharp UTS 2025

JB Sharp UTS 9th August 2025

The torrential rain that morning was clearly an omen. The day did not start well with a tyre blow out on the trailer that led to significant damage to Aurore and more minor damage to our blue 8+ (Sydney Womens). The wheel was changed outside the Leichhardt club house by Charles with the help of a couple of good Samaritans. Both of the damaged craft were subsequently taken to the Allan Phillips Hospital for injured boats.

Unfortunately, the W8+ and one of our quad races had to be scratched. Our remaining quad was rowed by Adriana, Annelise, Sue and Mel to a win in WI4x. Adriana and Annelise had a hard fought win in the WI2x. Mel and Sharon also performed well in their WI2x race. Julia, Lisa, Petra and Seven became spectators for the day. The rain eased and the day finished much better than it started.

JB Sharp Glebe 24th August 2025

ARC was represented by 5 rowers (Andi, Annelise, Denny, Eimy and Seven) accompanied by their cheer squad (see photos). The WN4x were powering along but clipped a large marker buoy which slowed them down for a bit. They recovered well, got back into a good rhythm and finished strongly. Annelise looked impressive in her single but had to overcome a large handicap. Eimy competed in the WN1x. She put in a very strong performance with good stroke length and excellent boat run. 

Thanks to Mike for transporting the single on his car and also arranging to borrow a quad from Glebe RC. Everyone enjoyed the day with good weather, beautiful surroundings and excellent company.
