With the trailer packed full of boats, 16 members headed north for three days of racing at the annual Taree Summer Regatta from January 9 - 11. Taree turned on all kinds of weather for the competitors: gusting winds whipped up white caps on the mighty Manning River for Friday afternoon's events; calm conditions on Saturday morning delighted rowers who later enjoyed an extended lunch break when a raft of races were cancelled as the mercury soared to 38; while on Sunday, a brisk southerly brought the temperature down as well as clouds and a smattering of rain.
Despite the at-times challenging conditions, all of ARC's members put in good rows and overall the team came away with two second place finishes and nine thirds.
Away from the water, the travelling party soaked up the local hospitality (hello Sailos!), enjoyed dinners together and some even found time for a spot of shopping. Thanks to Julia for co-ordinating, Suzie for organising our meals, Catherine for towing the trailer and to everyone who pitched in to make it another memorable and enjoyable regatta.
Check out the photos in the gallery and Taree, we will see you next year!
